Grape seed extract plays a significant role in protecting the skin. It is rich in antioxidants like vitamin E, flavonoids & linoleic acid as well as oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes (proanthocyanidin). Antioxidants protect the skin against free radicals whereas proanthocyanidin protect it from external forces and internal factors. Procyanidins are the most powerful antioxidants in the GSE. They promote skin elasticity and protect it from sun damage which causes premature ageing of the skin.
GSE is very effective against skin-related illnesses and conditions caused by fungal, parasites, bacteria, viral, etc. It can treat acne, jock itch, eczema, cold sores, Candida, chickenpox, dandruff, athlete's foot, rashes, ringworm and warts. How to Use Grapefruit Seed Extract for Skin?

1. Wrinkles

Take a cotton ball and wet it. Put 1 drop of GSE to the wet cotton ball and wipe it over the wrinkled areas before going to bed. In the next morning, you will notice a reduction in the wrinkles.

2. Cracked lips and Cold Sores

Mix a few drops of Grapefruit seed extract with one Tbsp of light olive oil. Apply the mixture on the lips or cold sores 2-3 times a day.

3. Acne/Eczema or Skin Cleanser

Wet your face thoroughly with warm or cool water. Then, pour 2-3 drops of GSE in wet hands and massage it all over the face in circular motion for one minute. Once the extract is absorbed by the skin, wash the face thoroughly and pat it dry. You can even mix GSE (2-3 drops) with soaps and cleansers for these problems.

4. Skin Fungi

Add drops15 or more drops of GSE in one quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the infected area. You are not required to rinse the mixture.

5. Scalp Treatment (including Dandruff & Itchy Scalp)

Add two or three drops of GSE in your regular shampoo and massage it into the scalp. Use the amount of shampoo you normally apply to your hair. Wait for 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

6. Nail Fungus and Athlete’s Foot

Make a solution of Grapefruit seed extract (3 to 4 drops) and warm water (8 oz.). Soak the affected area in this mixture of foot for 10-15 minutes. Repeat the treatment several times a day for 3 weeks or as required.

7. Calluses (Horny skin)

Put 2-3 drops of grapefruit in 1/2 gallon of water and soak the foot in the water for 5-10 minutes.

8. Chicken Pox, Dermatitis, Nettle Rash, Shingles and Hives

Mix few drops of GSE and 1 Tbsp olive, avocado, almond, sesame or vegetable oil. Apply the mixture on the affected areas.

9. Cold Sores

The mixture of GSE (few drops) and vegetable glycerin can be applied on the sores several times a day.

10. Impetigos

Spray the concoction of 1 tsp of GSE and 3 oz. of water on the infected area. Use the concoction 2 to 3 times daily.

11. Cysts and Warts

Pour 1 drop of GSE directly on the cyst or wart. Once the GSE has been absorbed, blot the excess and cover with a bandage. Apply GSE two times a day for 2-3 weeks.

12. Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, Skin Disorders

Apply the mixture of 1% concentration (1 part GSE to 100 parts water) and essential oil (chamomile or tea tree) with a spray bottle. Don’t rinse the mixture. You can also apply 2 to 3 drops of GSE to a wetted area. After few minutes, wash it off.

13. Candida

Take a bowl, put 30 ml (1 ounce) of water and add 5 to 10 drops of GSE. Apply this mixture on the nipples with the help of a Q-tip or cotton ball. Once it dries, apply all purpose nipple ointment. You can take 250 mg GSE pill three times a day.

14. Vaginal Yeast Infections

Add 10 drops of GSE in 1 cup water and use the prepared mixture as a douche. Repeat the treatment for 1 week.

How To Make Grapefruit Seed Extract?

Grapefruit seed extract can be made by 2 ways:

First:

Things needed:
  • Ground-up seeds and pulp
  • Ethanol (a type of alcohol in alcoholic beverages)
Method of preparation:

Take ethanol and soak the ground-up seeds and pulp in it. Then, distill the extract from the concoction.

Second:

Things needed:
  • Grapefruit Seeds
  • Dehydrated pulp
  • Virgin coconut oil
Method of preparation:

First of all, grind the grapefruit seeds and dehydrated pulp. Then, add virgin coconut oil in it. You can also use glycerin instead of coconut oil.
